Getting Back to In-Person Author Visits! Venues, Content, Pricing, and Promotion

Are you Zoomed out? So are kids. With schools opening again this fall, authors and illustrators will be back on track connecting with kids in person (Yay!). Are you ready? Whether you’re new to presenting or experienced and need to put a shine on what you’ve done in the past, this session will keep you up-to-date with the following: identifying venues, targeting what teachers are looking for, delivering engaging content in memorable ways, pricing your visits, promoting your programs, and knowing if you’ve hit the mark with your audiences.

Alexis O’Neill is the author of The Recess Queen, The Kite That Bridged Two Nations and other award-winning books. A popular presenter, she pens “The Truth About School Visits” column for the SCBWI Bulletin. As a former elementary school teacher with a Ph.D. in teacher education, she brings years of practical classroom experience to help authors and illustrators in the world of school visit presentations. Alexis served as SCBWI Regional Advisor for Central-Coastal California and is a writing instructor for the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program.
