PORTFOLIO CRITIQUES & SHOWCASE
Due to the online nature of Houston SCBWI’s 2020 Conference, the Portfolio Showcase and Portfolio Critiques will be moving into the digital realm!
2020 PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE
To participate in the online Portfolio Showcase attendees must opt-in by checking the appropriate box during conference registration. Participants are automatically entered into the Portfolio Showcase contest.
The Portfolio Showcase will be a dedicated page within SCBWI Houston’s conference website. The Showcase will display the name of and a thumbnail illustration for each participating illustrator. The thumbnail will link to a Google Photos folder containing each illustrator’s display of portfolio pieces. Viewers of the Portfolio Showcase will have the ability to comment on each of the pieces featured in the illustrator’s folder to leave feedback.
Each participating illustrator will need a Google account and the ability to follow technical instructions via PDF. (It is fine if the Google account is created just so you can create your portfolio entry.) Technical instructions will be emailed to participants upon confirmation of registration in the Showcase.
The Portfolio Showcase will be held throughout the conference weekend, beginning on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Prizes for the winners will be awarded at the end of the conference on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Portfolios must be uploaded by September 26th, 2020.
There are a limited number of “in-person” (via Zoom) portfolio critiques available during conference weekend. Register early to reserve your 15-minute critique session with a conference faculty member–they sell out quickly! Portfolio critiques are for conference registrants only and can be selected online while booking conference registration.
Portfolio Critiques will be done via Zoom with illustrations accessed via the Portfolio Showcase Google Photos links. The same technical requirements for the Portfolio Showcase apply to critiques.
If you decide to participate in the Showcase after completing your online or paper registration, please contact Bruce Foster, the Houston Registrar.
